PFOP Exclusive Interview: Cory Gunz

Yea, you already know. I’m sure. You heard him kill the “A Milli” track. You’ve heard the mixtapes, the freestyles, man…enough. No introduction needed. PFOP x Cory Gunz.
MoShadee: Who is Cory Gunz?
Cory Gunz: The son of Peter Gunz coming straight out of the BX.
MoShadee: You’re young but you’ve been in the game for a minute. Since your apprentice mixtape series, til now. What’s your current status with your deal?
Cory Gunz: I’m a free agent now…I was onced signed to Casablanca/Def Jam.
MoShadee: Yea I heard a lot of Jay-Z references throughout your tracks. What was the situation with that?
Cory Gunz: I was signed to Def Jam but that didn’t go through too well, but Jay let me go on good terms.
MoShadee: I’m sure you’re still getting offers. Who do you want to work with musically?
Cory Gunz: Eminem, Andre 3000…anybody with good music.
MoShadee: Yea, me being an upcoming artist myself and Eminem being one of my main influences, I noticed some of Em’s style in you. How much has he influenced you?
Cory Gunz: A lot. From the word play and delivery.
MoShadee: Favorite joint off the “Slim Shady” LP?
Cory Gunz: That’s tough…I like the whole thing.
MoShadee: Can’t pick one? *Laughs* Mine was “Brain Damage.” But I definitely feel you on that. My favorite track changed a lot.
Cory Gunz: Nah I like the whole thing. *Laughs*
MoShadee: *Laughs* Now you killed the “A Milli” verse. I personally think you got Wayne on that too. Why wasn’t your version on the album?
Cory Gunz: *Laughs* I don’t know. You would have to ask Wayne that one. *Laughs* But that did a lot for me…got the buzz back where it’s supposed to be.
MoShadee: Yea word. Wayne what’s good with that?! *Laughs*
Cory Gunz: *Laughs* But Weezy is the homey….shout out to Tyga.
MoShadee: Yea word, I see you and Tyga linked up for some tracks. How did that go about? I’m sure through Young Money, but how do you go about the features you do?
Cory Gunz: My homie Axel hooked that up with me and Tyga. Axel that just got signed under Gym Class Heroes’ label. Tyga was in NY and we just layed a track and chopped it up in the studio. But, as far as features if you got some fire I’m willing to work with you…there’s a lot of good music out there.
MoShadee: That’s wassup, might have something in store but, what separates Cory from other artists? What is Cory bringing to the game?
Cory Gunz: Well I’m consistent…always changing it up and not staying in one direction. I’m bringing the lyrical music back, more subject matters. Going to be one of those top five you remember. I have enough music that if something happened to me today, you wouldn’t stop hearing my name.
MoShadee: Alright, wrapping this up a ‘lil, you just dropped the “Best Kept Secret,” nice mixtape overall I must say, what do you have in the works for this year and what can the people look out for?
Cory Gunz: Just more mixtapes. “The Militia.” The Militia mixtapes. The album “God Forgives, I Don’t.”
MoShadee: So last but not least, what are some goals you want to accomplish this upcoming year?
Cory Gunz: Just put out that legendary album…hitting the fans with more fire and show “The Militia” to the whole world.
MoShadee: Any more input you would like to add or something to say to the people?
Cory Gunz: I’m coming at the game hard and I’m not going to let ya down.
